The 5 Dollar Soup Budget

 
Items you need everyday for a healthy soup:
  • Onions- white or yellow
  • Garlic - fresh or peeled
  • Roma tomatoes - fresh or canned (pick the low sodium and organic kind)
  • Kosher Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Chicken Stock - (low sodium or homemade)
  • Potatoes - used as a thickening agent
  • Fresh herbs - pick what is in season
  • Your choice of vegetable - leeks, spinach, squash..etc
 
Tools you need to have:
  • Deep soup pot
  • Food Processor or hand blender
